Sandgate Grade Separation
The purpose was to rectify the long term reliability and capacity issue on the Hunter Valley Network. The project provided vertical separation of the two rail lines while solving numerous technical, community and environmental issues. The Project Team, employed on client side (prior to establishing EJC Projects) led the critical $80M project (Sandgate Grade Separation) to resolve the train-running conflict at the busiest junction in the Hunter Valley. The work included; stakeholder consultation, EIS, federal and state environmental approvals, VFM options (with expert consultant), Business Case presentation at 5 milestone gateways to ARTC Executive and rail customers, development and delivery of a risk management plan and Configuration Change Plan (including training packages for new product operation and maintenance). The Project received a number of high-profile awards, notably: Transport and Logistics, National Achievement of the Year Award 2007 and Engineers Australia Newcastle Region Project of the Year 2007.
